Neurosurgeon
"Neurology is the study of the anatomy, physiology, and diseases of the nervous system."

Description
Neurology is the study of anatomy, physiology, and diseases of the nervous system. In order to properly provide treatment for their patients, neurosurgeons are required to have an in-depth knowledge of systems outside of the nervous system, such as the cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, and digestive systems. With their knowledge, neurosurgeons treat more than just patients with brain disorders, as most would assume. Rather, they treat a wide variety of patients, including those with spinal issues, birth defects, and abnormalities of the peripherals (face, arms, legs, hands and feet). Neurosurgeons are normally called on to perform surgeries and be consultants to emergency room doctors, neurologists, internists, family practitioners and osteopaths due to their extensive knowledge and experience in the operation room.

My Special Skills
|
I am well-versed in leadership. I have held many leadership positions throughout my high school career, and have successfully led multiple clubs to growth and prosperity. If you'd like to learn more, please click here or the button below to explore my list of leadership roles.
As a tennis player, I have learned to steady my arms and to achieve a balance that is necessary for the work of neurosurgeons. I possess a balance obtained through four continuous years of practice and patience. The International Baccalaureate Program (IB) is a very rigorous program that has prepared me for college in the best ways possible. I am prepared to take on the challenges and hard work of the neurosurgery path, because I have learned that I can take on any challenge presented to me from the IB program. My speaking skills are very well-established. I have had experience with impromptu speaking (click the button below to learn more) and public speaking to medium-sized crowds (40-60 people). This would be very helpful in the emergency room when everything is hectic and a voice needs to be heard. Above all, my greatest trait is my empathy. I seek to understand the pains and struggles of others, and this is what ignites my passion for helping others. I want to extend my influence to everyone in my community who is in pain, requiring someone to understand their needs, or looking for someone to provide them the care they so desperately need. |
